Tirunavaya Temple (in full Tirunavaya Navamukunda Temple) is an ancient Hindu temple at Tirunavaya, central Kerala, India, on the northern bank of the Bharatappuzha (River Ponnani), dedicated to Navamukundan (Narayana-Vishnu).

Rituals at Thirunavaya Temple
The highly regarded ritual 'Pithru Tharpanam' or appeasement of the souls of the elders or those who have gone from the Earth is most significant. This specialized ritual takes place on the New Moon Night or Amavasi during the month of 'Karkitaka' or July.
Thirunavaya History
Thirunavaya is an important place for Hindus due to the presence of the 6000-year-old Nava Mukunda temple, on the banks of the Bharathapuzha. The main deity of the temple is Lord Vishnu (Hindu god). Thousands come here to perform rituals to propitiate the souls of their deceased near and dear ones. From ancient times Thirunavaya was known throughout India as a centre of excellence for Vedic teachings, with Veda Paadda Saalas .The last and major renovation with the reconstruction of Sanctum Sanctorum was done by the legendary PERUMTHACHAN under the direction of the Vettath Raja about 1300 years back.
